What it is to Stay Home Sick in Rio de Janeiro

This man is the host of Brazil’s versions of Family Feud AND Wheel of Fortune. Family Feud is simply called Family Feud here, but Wheel of Fortune is called Roda a Roda and the Brazilian Vannah White is WAY hotter than the original. Either way, look at this dude’s awesome microphone. I don’t know why he chooses to use it. Other TV personalities down here have had no trouble obtaining the standard non-tie-obscuring tiny microphones that we’re used to in The States.
It’s not that bad. I think I’m better. I decided to take yesterday off because I was bold enough to go to work sick on Monday and it only made me worse. I spent all day yesterday eating soup and tiny bananas and drinking juice and water. I watched an old rerun of The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire (here it’s called Um Maluco no Pedaço which translates to “A Crazy Dude in the Neighborhood”). I read a lot of this totally insane book which was recommended to me by the lead singer of this wonderful band via this interview. I slept a ton. I took these pictures (ha!)
I think I’ve finally kicked this thing, although now I’ve got to recover from being so sedentary for a full day.
I guess the thing is that I just don’t want to be sick when I should be running around doing everything there is to do here. Although getting a cold is something that people do here (I’m not the only one).
